Canyon Visitor Education Center

My husband and I were up at 6:30 this morning, thankful for some cooler, rainy weather. We ended up at the Canyon Visitor Education Center, mainly because I had to pee. We toured the place, watched a movie, saw some beautiful artwork, bought a Bana because I forgot mine at home, and finally found some […]

Breaking In The Hiking Boots

Here are my new hiking boots for the three of you who care. And remember when I said I didn’t need to buy any more shirts until my next trip? Well, we walked around town last night and I found that red shirt (and another super comfortable one) for buy-one-get-one-free. As to that look on […]

Paintpots

My husband and I had to run to town to buy me a pair of hiking boots and Smartwool socks this morning before we headed into the park because my feet (in Chacos) aren’t liking all the dust around here. Once we came to Artists Paintpots, we had to drive around the parking lot circle […]

Speaking of Wildflowers

During our hike back from Lone Star Geyser, this wildflower stopped me dead in my tracks: I thought it was so pretty. It was no easy feat to kneel down in the dirt to get this picture just right.

Wildflowers

So many times when my husband and I are hiking, like the trail we did to the Lone Star Geyser, we need to add on ten minutes to take pictures of wildflowers. Ken loves it when I take extra time to get just the right picture of the flower in question and even more time for him […]

Lone Star Geyser Trail

We hiked to the Lone Star Geyser today. Unlike Old Faithful where there were hundreds and hundreds of tourists (so you end up taking 20 photos of the back of some random guy’s head trying to capture the eruption ), this geyser had eight people waiting. This is probably because it was two and a […]

Biscuit Basin

We drove by Biscuit Basin this morning around 9 o’clock. Ken asked me, “You wanna stop?” “Nope. If you want me to hike that Lone Star Geyser trail, I want to do it before it gets too hot.” We continued and drove the two miles to Old Faithful, where we happened to catch the eruption. […]

Yellowstone National Park

After four days of road-tripping and visiting friends and family along the way, we finally made it into Yellowstone National Park. We walked and walked and walked, thinking that Old Faithful might be up in the distance, but after three miles, we finally turned around, realizing that we were nowhere near that famous landmark.

We Finally Make It To Yellowstone

After staying three nights in three different towns on our road trip, my husband and I finally arrived in Yellowstone. Instead of heading immediately to the park like most people, we had to find me some shirts because I only brought two. Let’s be clear. I hate shopping and do it because I have to. […]

Singing & Sobbing

Six days ago, I mentioned how I was hyper (thyroid issues) and I was going to sing the entirety of our 14-hour road trip to Yellowstone. I’ve stayed true to my word, except for the few times Ken asked me to stop. There’s just something about singing in the car, eh? I only cried about […]
