Secret Beach is probably our favorite. Everything was going great—sand that goes on forever, hardly any people, gentle waves, nice shade—for three hours. Then, well…we got rained on. I’m not talking a friendly little sprinkle. We got dumped on for 20 minutes. The thunder and lightning was just a bonus.

We got up early and made it to Anini Beach by 8 o’clock because we heard that was the best time to see the turtles. Oh. You have to snorkel to see them.

You might think this picture was taken on the island of Kauai, but it was not. It was taken by my housesitter. She was under strict instructions to let me know when my yellow peonies—I have three huge bushes—started blooming. I miss their beauty every year, but you don’t hear me complaining.

I sat and watched Ken smoke at the cigar lounge for an hour today. I was so bored out of my mind. I considered making him take me on a chocolate tour tomorrow, but it’s $135 per person. I like chocolate, but not that much.
