Back on June 7, the producer in Nashville introduced me to two of his musically talented friends and the four of us wrote a song together. We recorded it that same night, since I was hopping on an airplane to come home the next day and I wanted to be in on the action from beginning to end.
Matt did a great job on so many things, I hardly know where to start. That chorus was all him. The piano-playing? Boy-howdy, he nailed it. I loved watching him compose from the piano (as you know, I’m a bit partial to keys). Also, he killed the drum track.
Katie. Well, I knew I liked her the minute we met. Then, I noticed how we write similarly—methinks we better write another song together in the future—when it comes to lyrics and those little details. Thennnn, her singing. Oh my goodness. I have listened to the master of this song about 75 times. Her voice suits the song perfectly. Couldn’t have custom-ordered a better one.
While we were in the studio recording, the producer leaned over to me, “Your worship director is gonna love this one.”
I’m not sure if he is going to love it or not, but I know I sure do.
