That’s Not Something You Do Every Day #30

June 11, 2025

My ongoing hydrangea walk project

This morning, I thought I would “pick up a few catkins” (seed pods, at least I think that’s what they’re called…I tried Googling it and went down a 10-minute rabbit hole 😂) from our cottonwood trees and put them in a bucket.

Five hours later, I’ve abandoned the bucket for the wheelbarrow and I’m digging up roots that are 3-5 feet long so that they don’t choke out my hydrangeas.

I think I lost two pounds from sweating so much. 🥵

Later, Ken tells me, “You know those will probably grow back, right?” 😳When he saw the look on my face, he rushed to add, “But not in your lifetime.”
